Fall-Winter Skill Sessions

For the 2026–27 season, Mark Zarbo Hockey will be offering skill sessions on:

 

  •  Sundays at Riverside Rink
  • Mondays & Fridays at Nichols Small Rink


🏒 NEW! Payment & Sign-Up Policy

Payment is now required at the time of sign-up to secure your spot. This applies to all sign-ups, regardless of how far in advance the date or camp may be. We will no longer hold or reserve spots without payment being made in full at the time of sign-up.
 

Payment options include Venmo, Zelle (NEW!), Credit Card (3% fee now waived), Check, or Cash. Please see the “How to Pay” and “Refund/Cancellation Policy” sections below.
 

We are working on a new sign-up and payment system to make the process easier. Until it is ready, please look for the automated invoice sent by email after signing up and submit payment using one of the listed payment options.

🏒 Age Groups

 

  • Younger Group: Mite–Peewee Minor, 2015–2020 birth years
  • Older Group: Peewee Minor–Midget, 2009–2015 birth years

 

⚠️ No Beginners Please.

These sessions are not appropriate for beginner-level players. A beginner is defined as a player who has not yet able to perform the basic skating skills of: stops/starts, crossovers, tight turns, backward skating, basic puck control, and basic edge work. We assume all participants can perform these fundamental skills, as all practices and sessions are designed with this in mind.

All sign-ups are first-come, first-serve.

 

🏒 Sign-Up Details

 

✅ Variety of Topics:  This season we are offering topics of Skating & Puck Control, NEW! Overspeed Skating & Stickhandling Shooting Skill Sessions to choose from.

 

✅ Flexible Sign-Up: Players may register for as few or as many sessions as they like, in any combination.

 

✅ Discounts: Quantity discounts are available.

✅ Sign-Up Form & Availability: On sign up form, select Fall/Winter Skill Sessions, then select player age group and all available sessions will then appear.  Select any/all sessions wanting to sign up for. If a session is not listed, it has been filled.

 

🏒 Pricing & Discounts

 

1–5 sessions → $25/session

6–10 sessions → $23/session (8% discount)

11–15 sessions → $22/session (12% discount)

16–20 sessions → $21/session (16% discount)

21+ sessions → $20/session (20% discount)

 

🏒 Family Multi-Player Discount

 

Families may combine sessions across multiple players to reach discount tiers faster.

Example: Two siblings each sign up for 5 sessions (10 total) → $23/session instead of $25/session (saving $20).

 

🏒 Adding Sessions Later

 

If additional sessions move you into a higher discount tier, the new rate will apply retroactively to all sessions.

 

Example:

  • Initial: 8 sessions × $23 = $184
  • Add 8 more: 16 total × $21 = $336
  • New balance: $152 ($336 – $184)


Discounts only apply within the same season. Cancelled sessions will adjust pricing to the appropriate discount tier.
 
Please note that until we finish our new sign-up system, the updated discount rate will not appear automatically on the invoice for the second or subsequent sign-up. Once the sign-up form is reviewed, we will apply the appropriate discount and send an updated balance reflecting the new discount rate.
 
If you know your total after applying the new discount, you are welcome to send payment based on that amount. Otherwise, you can wait until we review the sign-up and send you the updated total.

 

🏒 Skills Topics Descriptions

 

NEW! Overspeed & Stickhandling Sessions

  • We have combined our Overspeed Skating and Stickhandling & Puck Control topics into one!

    •  

  • Purpose: The purpose of the Overspeed & Stickhandling sessions is to develop small-area quickness and transition skills (forward & backward crossovers, tight turns, pivots, stops/starts), as well as the ability to handle the puck in small areas using dekes and moves.

 

Skating & Puck Control Sessions

  • Purpose: The purpose of our Skating & Puck Control sessions is to develop a player’s ability to skate with the puck through traffic, with a focus on crossovers, weight shifting, skating through moves, spotting the puck, and coordinating puck control with skating.

 

Shooting Skill Sessions

  • Purpose: The purpose of the Shooting Skill sessions is to develop shooting mechanics, shooting in stride, shooting off either leg, wrist and snap shot skills, shooting out of fakes, one-timers, catch-and-release shooting, and backhand shooting. All skills are age- and level-dependent.

🏒 Payment Policies

 

Payment is required at the time of sign-up to secure your spot. This applies to all sign-ups, regardless of how far in advance the date or camp may be. We will no longer hold or reserve spots without payment being made in full at the time of sign-up. See refund/cancellation policy for further details.

🏒 Cancellation, Refund & Credits Policy

 

Fall & Winter Programs – Cancellation Policy:
If cancelling a session or camp more than 7 days in advance of the scheduled date, you may receive a credit or move the session to another available date.

 

If cancelling less than 7 days in advance, we must be able to find a replacement for the spot before allowing you to move the session or receive a credit. Players are also allowed to find their own replacement. If you find your own replacement, all we ask is that you let us know so we are aware of the change.

 

This policy applies to all cancellations regardless of the reason, including sickness, injury, and unexpected schedule conflicts.

 

Fall & Winter Programs – Refund Policy:
Any cancellation made prior to October 1st for Fall & Winter Programs is eligible for a refund.

 

Any cancellation made on or after October 1st is only eligible for a credit.

 

If payment was made by credit card, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from any refund. There is no processing fee for refunds made from any other form of payment.

 

Credits Policy:
Credits never expire and can be used for any program we offer at any time.

 

To use an existing credit, fill out the sign-up form as normal. In the comment box, please note that you have a credit so that when the form is reviewed, we know to look up the credit and apply it to your balance.

 

🏒 Winter Weather Policy

 

Sessions are only cancelled if:

  • The rink is closed, OR
  • A driving ban is in effect in the city/town of the rink.

 

If Mark Zarbo Hockey cancels:

  • All players will be contacted directly
  • Cancellation will be posted on social media
  • Players will receive a refund or credit

 

If a player misses a session due to weather, refunds/credits are not issued unless following the above cancellation policy.

 

Note: Nichols Rink and Nichols School are separate entities. A school cancellation does not mean the rink is closed. Most rinks only close if a local travel ban is in place. Travel safely at your own risk.

🏒 How Do I Sign Up for Programs?

 

To sign up, please complete the form below. Sign-ups are ONLY accepted through this form.

Step 1: Fill out parent/guardian contact information.

Step 2: Select the number of players you wish to register. The corresponding number of player sign-up forms will appear.

Step 3: Complete each player’s information.

Step 4: Check the box next to each program you want the player to attend. Additional instructions or fields for each program will appear—follow these to complete the sign-up.

Step 5: Repeat Steps 3–4 for each additional player.

After submitting the form, you will be redirected to a page to complete the liability waiver. You will also receive an email receipt containing:

  • A copy of your sign-up
  • Invoice and payment information
  • Confirmation email is sent automatically as soon as sign up is submitted, check SPAM/Junk folders if not received right after form submitted

 

⚠️  IMPORTANT: Double-check, save, and print the confirmation for your records. You are responsible for all dates signed up for.

Tip: You can register multiple players and for multiple programs on a single form—no need to complete separate forms for each player or program.

Press Submit 1x Only:  Once you are finished with your form press the submit button only 1x.  Please give our system a second to load your form.  If you press the submit button more than once it will cause a submission failure.
