3 v 3 Cross-Ice Development League

Our 3 v 3 Cross-Ice Development League enhances player development by increasing game intensity, puck touches, and situational repetitions, while keeping all players actively involved throughout each shift. Coaches will emphasize puck protection, puck support, and playing both sides of the puck — offense and defense. Players are encouraged to be creative and experiment during games. All divisions are non-checking.

NEW! Added Friday 3 v 3 League: Our 3v3 League has expanded to include both a Friday night division and a weekend (6 Saturdays, 2 Sundays) division! Players are eligible to sign up for 1 or both divisions.

NEW! Decreased 3 v 3 Ice Length: We have decreased our 3 v 3 ice length from 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, allowing us to add Fridays and give all divisions improved start times.

NEW! Decreased 3 v 3 Team Size: With decreasing ice length we have decreased team size to 8 players and 1 goalie

🏒 Divisions

⚠️ AAA/AA Level Players: This league is designed for travel-level players, as it assumes participants already possess a strong foundation in skating and puck skills, helping to keep divisions balanced in talent.

⚠️ 2019 Birth Years: 2019 birth years are eligible for both the Mite (2018 – 2019) and/or Mini Mite (2019 – 2020) divisions. It is suggested that lower level/newer 2019 players sign up for the Mini Mite division and that higher level/more experienced 2019 players sign up for the Mite division.

🏒 How Do We Make the Divisions & Teams?

Players register as individuals and are placed on a team. Teams are organized based on birth year and skill level. On Day #1, players will complete a skating timed test, which—along with Day #1 performance—is used to balance teams accordingly. Requests to play on the same team as friends or teammates will be considered but not guaranteed to maintain balanced and competitive teams.

Each team will consist of 8 players and 1 goalie, with a designated coach from the Mark Zarbo Hockey staff to ensure equal shift rotation and structured gameplay.

Teams will play two games per ice time, with a 14-game regular season followed by semi-final and final rounds — 16 games total. Each game is 25 minutes long, with 1-minute shifts and player changes on the horn to maintain high tempo and balanced ice time. The final scheduled ice time will include the semi-finals and finals (playoffs).

We take pride in ensuring divisions and teams are as competitive as possible. We carefully review registrations and may contact or move players to maintain balanced divisions. If you have any questions regarding registration, please email mark@markzarbohockey.com.
