For the 2024 – 2025 season Mark Zarbo Hockey is adding in-season mini mite programs.

Tuesday & Thursdays Small Group Skills (2 Days Per Week Option)

This program will focus and have the goal of providing every player a solid foundation of skating and basic puck skills by seasons end. Practice sessions will introduce and focus on basic edge work, skating skills and puck/stickhandling skills. Players must sign up for whole program.

Cost: $630                          (42 hours ice — $15/hour of ice)

• Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:00 – 6:00pm at Nichols Small Rink
• 16 player max
• 1:4 player to coach ratio
• Jersey Provided
• Small group skills training
• Focus on developing a solid skating & puck skills foundation
• Add on Sundays for only $350 ($150 discounts, normally $500). See full mini mite program details.
• No ice Thanksgiving week & weekend, February Break Week, Christmas Break weeks or Super Bowl Sunday. See below for exact schedule of dates.

This is not a beginner learn to skate or hockey introduction beginners’ program. Players must be able to skate already (no walkers), push/skate with both feet and have ability to skate with the puck. Players should have at least 1 year of experience and show good ability to follow directions/instruction on the ice. This program is not appropriate for players below that level of ability.

FREE Equipment Sizing Check Provided by Front Row Sports

All full-time mini mite players are eligible to get a FREE equipment sizing check at Front Row Sports in West Seneca.

One the biggest issues at the mini mite level is a players equipment fitting properly, especially skates. If a player’s equipment does not fit properly, it can severely hinder or even make it impossible to learn some skills. For example, if a player’s skates are too big or they supinate or pronate to much at the ankle it makes it very hard to impossible for those players to learn to stop and/or crossover dependent on issue.

You do not have to buy or have bought your equipment at Front Row. They are providing all full-time players from our program a courtesy equipment sizing check and corrections on gear if possible/needed.

Payment Policies!

For all full season players (1, 2, 3 day per week full program sign ups) a deposit of half is due August 1st with full payment being due October 1st.

Skills Cancellation policy!

Players cancelling more than 7 days in advance of the scheduled session automatically can move the session to another open date or receive a credit for the cost of that specific session to use to any program we have at any time. If less cancelling less than 7 days prior to a session Mark Zarbo Hockey has to be able to find a player to replace your player’s spot to be able to move or issue a credit. We do not credit for cancels less then 24 hours in advance of a skills session, unless the player is able to find their own spot replacement.  Players are allowed to find their own replacement at any time to receive credit and is very much appreciated.  If a player finds their own replacement, they must contact Mark Zarbo Hockey and inform them of the change.  This policy is adopted due to these skill sessions being small numbers of players and includes cancellations due to sickness or injury.

School Holiday Cancellation policy!

Players cancelling more than 7 days in advance of the scheduled School Holiday Camp automatically can move to another open School Holiday Camp date or receive a credit for the cost of that specific camp to use to any program we have at any time. If less than 7 days prior, Mark Zarbo Hockey has to be able to find a player to replace your player’s spot to be able to move or issue a credit. We do not credit for cancels less then 48 hours in advance of a School Holiday Camp, unless the player is able to find their own spot replacement.  Player’s are able to find their own spot replacement at any time to receive credit and is very much appreciated.  If a player finds their own replacement, they must contact Mark Zarbo Hockey and inform them of this change to receive credit. Please note if your player is in a tournament the weekend of a school holiday camp this policy still applies, and credit will not be given for late cancels if team makes it to a playoff or championship game.

Winter Weather Policy!

Please note that with winter weather, sessions are only cancelled if the rink is closed and/or a driving ban is in place for the city or town the rink is located.  If a session is ever cancelled by Mark Zarbo Hockey, all players in that session will be contacted directly as well as the cancellation posted on social media.  Any cancelled sessions by Mark Zarbo Hockey would constitute a refund or credit to that player. A player missing a schedule session due to weather would not constitute a refund or credit unless it adheres to the cancellation policy above.

Please note that Nichols Rink & Nichols School are separate entities.   If Nichols cancels school, it does not mean the rink is closed.  Most rinks only close if there is a travel ban in place in the town/city they are located.  Travel safely and at your own risk!
