September Checking Sessions

When players move from non-hitting to hitting hockey the game changes in many ways.  Checking can either make a player more effective or less effective.  Checking is a skill and players who understand how to use their bodies and protect the puck will be more effective players then players who do not.

The purpose of this camp is to teach players how to use checking to make themselves better players– correct checking technique, how to give and take a hit, learn how to properly protect the puck and use their body to create scoring chances or separate the opposition from the puck. 

Players will be split into small groups to ensure they are getting lots of 1 on 1 attention and repetitions in all drills. Groups will be made based on player’s age and level of play to ensure players will be competing against someone of their own caliber.  

Cost per session is $30/player

Objectives:

Players will learn all the basics of checking: proper checking technique, how give/take a hit, how to take a hit along the wall, understanding what the danger zone on the rink is, and how to properly separate the man from the puck and how to use their body to protect the puck from an opposing player.

Cancellation Policy

Players cancelling more then 7 days in advance of the scheduled camp automatically can move to another open camp date or receive a credit for the cost of that specific camp to use to any program we have at anytime. If less then 7 days prior to a session Mark Zarbo Hockey has to be able to find a player to replace your player’s spot to to be able to move or issue a credit. We do not credit for cancels less then 48 hours in advance, unless the player is able to find their own spot replacement.  Player’s are able to find their own spot replacement at anytime to receive credit and is very much appreciated.  If a player found their own replacement, they must contact Mark Zarbo Hockey and inform them of this change to receive credit.

Winter Weather Policy

Please note that with winter weather, sessions are only cancelled if the rink is closed and/or a driving ban is in place for the city or town the rink is located.  If a session is ever cancelled, all players in that session will be contacted directly as well as the cancellation posted on social media.  Any cancelled sessions would constitute a refund or credit to that player. A player missing a schedule session due to weather would not constitute a refund or credit unless it adheres to the cancellation policy above.  Travel safely and at your own risk! Mark Zarbo Hockey Payment Policy

After filling out sign up form, players will receive an email (within 24-48 hours) confirming the sign up as well as total cost of the sessions selected.  Players must pay for sessions prior to attending.  To pay please mail payment to PO Box 41, Grand Island, NY 14072.  Bank checks (setup Mark Zarbo Hockey on your bill pay) are accepted.  Payments will be confirmed when received.  If your player is in current programs, payment for future programs can be given in person as well (cash or check accepted only).  Please have payments in an envelope with player name.  Currently Mark Zarbo Hockey does not accept credit cards or online payments.  Player’s signing up for sessions ahead of time are not allowed to pay as they go.  Only players on fill in/waiting lists can pay as they attend or pick up late session cancels.  If any issues or unforeseen circumstances arise with payments please do not hesitate to contact Mark Zarbo Hockey for accommodations.

For your convenience we have added all of our Fall & Winter Programs to one sign up form.  You can now view and sign up for any Fall/Winter program through the one form below.  If signing up multiple players please fill out separate forms for each player.

You know your form went through if you are redirected to a page stating your submission has been sent.  You will then be redirected to sign a liability waiver form.  You should also receive an email copy of your submission sent in.  Please note filling out a the submission form does not guarantee players a spot in camp(s).  You should receive a personal email confirmation within 24-48hours confirming that submission was received and whether spots are still available for your requests.
